PERTH, AUS – VGW is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Moore-Barton as Chief Operating Officer, further strengthening its leadership team.
Tim takes on his new role after three years as VGW’s Chief Strategy Officer, which for the past 16 months included oversight of the Group’s operations team where he had responsibility for the Customer Service, Payments, Trust and Safety (PTS), Central Services, and Responsible Social Gameplay teams.
VGW Chief Executive Officer Laurence Escalante said Tim had done a fantastic job leading functions that are fundamental to creating positive experiences for its players, and taking on the COO role would enable him to build upon this great progress. He added that while VGW continued to attract top talent from outside the business, it was always nice to appoint and promote from within as well.
“Tim is a proven leader and highly experienced executive who knows our business and industry inside out,” Mr Escalante said. “He lives and breathes our values, including that our players come first and we do what’s right, so I’m delighted he’s agreed to formally take on this new role. I look forward to his ongoing contributions as we continue to grow and maximise the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”
Mr Moore-Barton joined VGW in mid-2021 as Chief Strategy Officer after more than a decade at Betfair Australia, including six years as CEO. He previously worked in consulting and holds a Master of Engineering from the University of Oxford.
Mr Moore-Barton will continue to oversee the Enterprise Risk, Data Science and Business Intelligence functions. The Strategy and Research team will transition to Chief Growth Officer and fellow Executive Committee (Exco) member, Lloyd Melnick.
This follows VGW’s appointment in 2023 of Chief Technology Officer Patrick Di Loreto, another Exco member reporting to the CEO. Patrick has extensive experience in gaming, most recently as Group CTO at Entain.
